Mind - Body Wellness

What's the mind-body connection?

It's the link between a person's thoughts, emotions and experiences and their physical symptoms. We need to know that the mind and the body are not two separate entities - this is why our physical health is not complete without taking care of our emotional health.

A good body-mind connection leads to strength, clarity, health and well-being. Even though, having negative thoughts, feelings or emotions like anger and resentment, or experiencing suffering is all part of the human experience. We'd all be better if we can recover from disappointments and take every obstacle in stride.

The ability to do that is called resilience. We can learn and strengthen this skill by taking the appropriate action to process and move through our bad emotions, therefore improving our state of the physical body.

Here are three steps you can take to become more resilient:

Take Care of Your Body with Diet and Exercise

The exercise doesn't have to be hard. Moving your body in any way, with any degree of intensity will suffice because exercise is a natural antidepressant.

If you want to practice a mind-body workout, consider trying yoga. It combines muscle strengthening with slow, calm, and controlled movements that can help you experience emotional well-being that may help you better handle pain or stress. However, you can also try options as simple as going for a walk. If you haven’t been exercising that much, start small, with 10- to 15-minute power walks and build from there.

The result is that people feel more motivated and able to experience joy and happiness in everyday life. There are also changes in the brain that help regulate emotions and keep stress in check. So after weeks of regular activity, you’ve built a more resilient brain that will help you keep calm in a crisis.

Also, we can not forget about our diet. A healthy eating plan should include foods you enjoy along with plenty of healthy, not-too processed foods like vegetables, fruits, seafood and grains.

    2. Meditate

It's one of the single most powerful tools to rebuilding resilience. By learning to meditate, you can reap the benefits of the body state with includes relaxation, energy and life perspective and tension and tightness seep from muscles as the body receives a quiet message to relax.

    3. Identify a Mentor

Don't miss the potential power in the ability to positively impact one's life circumstances. Try to identify someone you admire and then model your behavior after what you think they do to light out a room just by walking into it. You can find a mentor that can help you understand that energy, self-awareness and self-management can help you to be able to shift your perspective from threat to opportunity.
